When it comes to looking and feeling your best in the clothes you wear, knowing your body type and what best suits it, is just as important as knowing your proper size. Determine your individual body shape, and read below for helpful suggestions on what styles are most—and least—flattering for you.
Pear or Triangle Shape
Goal: Bring attention to the shoulders and torso area to balance out the silhouette.
- Choose pants, skirts, and dresses that flow over the hip and thigh areas.
- Choose a fitted top or jacket and a flared garment from the waist down.
- Suggested styles: pleated skirts, dropped yokes, longer skirts, narrowed sleeves, deep scoop neck lines, A-line skirts, sweaters that end at the waist, not the hip.
- Avoid: slim-fitting pants and skirts, bright-colored pants, shirts with dropped shoulders, pants with slash pockets on the seam.
